Sustainability

In pursuit of a more sustainable future, we pledge to create products responsibly and enable you to maximize their use.

Buying less is the first step toward a more sustainable future. At Matriarqè, we encourage our community to buy the finest they can afford, to take good care of those items, to repair and reuse them.

  • MINIMIZING CARBON FOOTPRINT

Our production is based on local craftsmanship to be able to ensure that the quality and fit are up to our high standards.

We source from regional suppliers that are committed to a high degree of ethical conduct and environmental responsibility. By supporting regional creativity, we invest in the community, help small workshops, and reduce the carbon footprint to a minimum.

In our opinion, supporting local companies not only benefits the community but also fosters conscientiousness for years to come.

  • PROVENANCE OF PREMIUM MATERIALS

Every aspect of our business is motivated by our better, longer ethos, and our materials are no exception. Our fabrics and leathers are carefully sourced and made by hand. We only purchase from local vendors who uphold high moral standards and environmental responsibility without compromising quality.

We take responsibility in selecting exclusively leathers that are by-products from the meat industry audited by the Leather Working Group (LWG), the world's leading environmental certification organization for the leather manufacturing industry.

We believe that using only ethically sourced, high-quality materials such as LWG-certified naturally tanned calf leather, 100% cotton fabrics, nickel-free metal accessories, and other natural fibers demonstrates our commitment to the highest ecological and quality standards.

  • LEAN MANUFACTURING

The brand's attitude is consistent with the idea of lean manufacturing and the approach of rational production management. We respect both the environment and human labor by avoiding overproduction.

The highest ecological and quality standards have always been a priority for us, as we have consistently worked with local suppliers and contractors since the beginning.

  • SEASONLESS PRODUCTS

Rather than chasing constantly changing trends, our design philosophy is to create timeless, seasonless products to last a lifetime and outlast any trend.

Our bags are meticulously crafted with the idea of "Less, but better" ethos in mind using the best natural materials available. Each piece perfectly combines beauty and functionality to provide you with the perfect partners for all upcoming occasions.

  • PACKAGING

Our protective branded dust bags are made from 100% natural cotton and we use recyclable paper in our packaging, the paper used in our handbag boxes is certified by the FSC the Forest Stewardship Council, who ensure the paper comes from certified forests or derives from post-consumer waste.

  • ADVANCING GENDER EQUITY BY CELEBRATING WOMEN’S WORK

Craft-based work is a fundamental source of employment for women globally.

At Matriarqè we believe in the significance of contributing craft-based employment to advance gender and economic equity. We recognize the role we can play in creating opportunities for women in our community.

We only collaborate with companies who meet our standards on employment rights, ensuring that workers are paid a living wage, given adequate health and safety protection and do not experience discrimination within the workplace.
